Joe Serpico shares his top fantasy football waiver-wire pickups heading into Week 17.
Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints: Miller is filling in for Alvin Kamara, who is dealing with a groin injury. Kamara could be out for extended time, and Miller has been effective in limited snaps this season. If Miller plays well against the Packers on Monday night, he’s going to cost you more. Grab him before tonight’s game if you have the roster space.
Trey Benson, RB, Arizona Cardinals: James Conner was been terrific this season, but he injured his knee against the Panthers on Sunday and he will likely miss time with the Cardinals eliminated from playoff contention. Benson missed this week with an ankle injury, but he will take on the lead role if healthy. DeeJay Dallas caught a touchdown pass, but Michael Carter was the only other running back to receive a carry. If Benson plays, start him. If both Conner and Benson miss Week 17, just avoid this backfield.
Jalen McMillan, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The rookie has stepped up in recent weeks, becoming a key contributor in the Bucs’ offense. McMillan has scored in three straight games. He has at least six targets in all three of those games. If you need receiving help in your championship game, McMillan is a trustworthy option.
Marquise Brown, WR, Kansas City Chiefs: Brown made his regular-season debut against the Texans on Saturday, catching five passes for 45 yards. His usage will pick up down the stretch as the Chiefs look to open up their passing game before the playoffs. This is the ultimate boom-or-bust play in a crucial week, but Brown is the best receiver on the Chiefs’ roster.
Chig Okonkwo, TE, Tennessee Titans: The former Terp is hot down the stretch once again. Okonkwo has reeled in 17 of 21 targets for 140 yards the last two weeks. Up next for the Titans are the Jaguars, who have struggled to defend the pass. If you are streaming tight end, Okonkwo’s latest usage merits a start.
Indianapolis Colts D/ST: The Colts picked off three passes against the Titans and get a Giants team that threw two pick-sixes on Sunday. The Giants’ offense is just dreadful, and I will start every defense against that unit. If you are in a league that stretches into Week 18, Indy plays the Jaguars to end the season.
