2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best “Own Terms”
Legendary Baltimore sportscaster Mark Viviano announced his retirement and delivered his final sportscast for WJZ-TV in July.
Known affectionately as “Viv,” the St. Louis native made it clear he was walking away from the business on his own terms after 40 years because he wanted to spend more time with family and on charitable endeavors.
Viviano had been one of the most popular sports personalities in the area since his arrival (then at WBAL-TV) in 1994. He is best known for breaking the news of the Browns’ move to Baltimore but also hosted a popular radio show on 105.7 The Fan (and prior to that, 1300 AM).
