Orioles starting pitcher Cade Povich recently chatted with PressBox about his favorite sports star growing up, his go-to karaoke song and more. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-hander was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft and dealt to the Orioles in 2022. Povich made his major league debut in 2024.

PressBox: What’s a bucket-list place you’ve never been?
Cade Povich: Venice, Italy

PB: What’s your favorite pregame meal or snack?
CP: Pregame meal, usually on start days a bowl of fruit.

PB: What’s your favorite guilty food?
CP: I smash those cookie skillets with ice cream on top. It’s a cookie basically in a skillet — chocolate chip cookie — and then vanilla ice cream on top. Unbelievable.

PB: Who was your favorite sports star growing up?
CP: Clayton Kershaw

PB: What would you be if you weren’t a ballplayer?
CP: Probably a coach, honestly, or some kind of sports analyst.

PB: If you could trade places with any movie or TV character, who would it be?
CP: Probably Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore”

PB: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
CP: “Back to the Future”

PB: What show have you been binging lately?
CP: “Cobra Kai”

PB: What’s your go-to karaoke song?
CP: “Pickup Man”

PB: What’s your favorite road city?
CP: So far, probably New York.
