Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday recently chatted with PressBox about a bucket-list place he’s never been, the best tip he’s ever been given and more. The 6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitter from Stillwater, Okla., was taken No. 1 overall in the 2022 MLB Draft.
PressBox: Who was your favorite sports star when you were a kid?
Jackson Holliday: I’m a big Stephen Curry fan. Growing up I’d say [he’s] probably one of my favorites.
PB: What’s your favorite pre-game meal or snack?
JH: Anything with steak. I’m a big steak guy. I like steak and avocado.
PB: What’s your favorite “guilty” food?
JH: I’m a big dessert guy, so maybe chocolate chip cookies or brownies or anything like that.
PB: What’s a bucket-list place you’ve never been?
JH: I’d like to go to Italy or Paris, somewhere over there.
PB: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
JH: “The Hangover”
PB: What’s your go-to karaoke song?
JH: I’ve sung “Good Directions” a few times.
PB: What show have you been binging lately?
JH: I’ve been on “Game of Thrones” lately on the flights, that’s a new one for me.
PB: What’s the best tip you’ve ever been given?
JH: My mom told me, I was just thinking about this the other day for Mother’s Day: “If you want to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best.”
PB: What’s a habit you have that you wish you didn’t?
JH: I wish I wasn’t on my phone so much. I think that’s a bad one.
PB: What’s your favorite thing about Baltimore?
JH: I like how the city feels small. It’s good fan bases of the two teams. It’s a city but it feels like a tight-knit group.
