Orioles starting pitcher Trevor Rogers chatted with PressBox before the end of the season about his favorite thing to do on an off day, the best advice he’s been given and more. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound lefty has posted a 1.35 ERA in 106.2 innings (17 starts) this year, earning Most Valuable Oriole honors.

PressBox: If you weren’t a ballplayer, what do you think you’d be doing?
Trevor Rogers: It would probably be something trade-filled, like HVAC. I put on a few roofs in the past year.

PB: Do you have any hidden talents?
TR: Not so much now, but when I was a little kid I was pretty nasty at the pogo stick. I couldn’t get up really high but I was consistent, like 100, 200 times. I was a stamina guy.

PB: Are you a good cook?
TR: I’ve gotten a lot better at grilling, but cooking — I can barely make cereal.

PB: What’s your favorite “guilty” food?
TR: Mexican food. There’s a spot in Las Cruces. Green chicken enchiladas with beans and rice — I crush it.

PB: What’s your favorite pregame meal or snack on a day you’re pitching?
TR: I’ve been getting a regular Philly cheesesteak from Jersey Mike’s.

PB: On a day off, what’s your favorite thing to do?
TR: Golf. [Handicap is] like a 9 to 12, just depends on the day.

PB: What’s a bucket-list place you’ve never been?
TR: I want to go to Scotland and Ireland, both of those places.

PB: What are your favorite and least favorite road cities?
TR: Favorite, New York’s always out there. I’ve really grown to love Toronto, Toronto’s sweet. Least favorite, probably Cleveland. There’s just not a whole lot to do, really.

PB: What is your favorite thing about Baltimore?
TR: Probably the crab. The crab is unreal.

PB: What’s the best tip you’ve ever been given?
TR: It was actually this year. I was talking to [Charlie] Morton about if he ever overthinks and he gave me really nice information on how he deals with that.
