Joe Serpico shares his top fantasy football waiver-wire pickups heading into Week 5.
Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants: The passing numbers were not ideal — he finished 13 of 20 for 111 yards — but he added juice to an offense that desperately needed it. The 10 rushes are particularly valuable for fantasy owners. He finished as QB7 heading into the Sunday night action and looks to have streamer appeal with bye weeks now upon us. He absolutely needs to be rostered in Superflex leagues.
Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans: There is a changing of the guard in Houston as the rookie fourth-round pick exploded for 25.9 points. He found the end zone twice, while playing more snaps and finishing with more touches than Nick Chubb. We knew Marks would be a factor on passing downs, but the high usage in the shutout win against the Titans is promising. There is still no timetable on Joe Mixon’s return, and it might not matter when he does. Marks is a must-add for all fantasy owners.
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Jaylen Warren was a late scratch from the Steelers’ lineup, and Gainwell played the best game of his career in his absence. He finished with 134 yards and two touchdowns on 25 touches, including a team-high six receptions. The Steelers are on a bye in Week 5 so it’s likely Warren will be back in action then. He’s been impressive in the limited work he has received this season and is one of the better handcuffs to own.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers: The Packers’ receiving group can be frustrating to trust, but Jordan Love is looking for the veteran near the goal line. Doubs scored three times Sunday night and led the team with eight targets. He now has six red-zone targets on the young season, tied for third-best in the NFL. His snap share is significantly higher than the rest of the receivers on the roster as well. If there is any receiver to own in Green Bay, it is Doubs.
Wan’Dale Robinson, WR, New York Giants: He finished with a season-low 2.9 points, but the injury to Malik Nabers thrusts Robinson into the lead role for the Giants. He has 27 targets through the first four games and has shown big-play ability when given the opportunity. He is a boom-or-bust player, especially with a rookie quarterback under center, but should be rostered for receiver-needy teams.
