2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best College Athletes: Emily Tannenbaum
Every year since 1980, the Vice Admiral Lawrence Sword for Women has been presented by the Naval Academy Athletic Association to one woman who has “excelled in athletics during her years of varsity competition.”
In 2025, the honor went to tennis star Emily Tannenbaum, who won Patriot League Player of the Year for the second time in three years. She went 33-18 in singles play and 27-8 in doubles play during the 2024-25 season.
She finished her career tops in program history in singles wins (119), doubles wins (94), combined wins (213), No. 1 singles wins (55) and No. 1 doubles wins (29).
