2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Comeback
Maryland women’s basketball was down, 99-90, at Minnesota in December when Saylor Poffenbarger stepped to the free throw line with 44.3 seconds left in the second overtime session.
She made both to make the score 99-92. Then, 3-point plays by Kyndal Walker and Oluchi Okananwa on back-to-back possessions made the score 99-98. After that, Yarden Garzon delivered a beautiful pass to Poffenbarger out of a timeout for the go-ahead layup and a 100-99 win.
The Terps forced three turnovers to key the improbable 10-0 run to close out the game, twice executing a full-court press to perfection.
