2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Game
The 2025 MIAA A Conference boys’ lacrosse championship game between Archbishop Spalding and Calvert Hall in May started late due to weather and didn’t end until nearly midnight. But the game itself was well worth the wait.
Spalding held a three-goal lead entering the fourth quarter as the Cavaliers eyed their first-ever A Conference championship. Spalding led, 9-8, and had the ball in the final minute of the game, but Calvert Hall’s Jermaine Anderson caused a turnover that led to a game-tying Peyton Forte goal with 13 seconds left. Jackson Mitchell scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Cardinals to the title.
