2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Shocking Win
The Orioles celebrated the 30th anniversary of 2131 against the Dodgers on Sept. 6 … and eventual World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto celebrated by pitching like Mike Mussina.
Yamamoto came one out shy of recording the second no-hitter in Camden Yards history, with Jackson Holliday sending the right-hander’s 112th pitch just over the right field fence.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts then removed Yamamoto in favor of Blake Treinen, who allowed the next four batters to reach. That set the stage for Emmanuel Rivera’s walk-off single against former Oriole Tanner Scott.
Somehow, it did not turn out to be Yamamoto’s most stunning game of the season.
