2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Three-Peat
In 2024, Harford Community College men’s lacrosse won the junior college national championship but missed out on an undefeated season.
In 2025, the Fighting Owls not only won a third straight national title but went 14-0 in the process. They outscored opponents, 295-117, on the season, with four players scoring 30 or more goals.
Harford defeated Nassau Community College, 20-10, in the title game in May.
“I think the infrastructure’s here,” Fighting Owls coach Aaron Verardi said in explaining how Harford has won three in a row. “We have a blueprint of how things should work, starting at the beginning of the year until now. That’s what we’re following.”
