2025 marks PressBox’s ninth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Twin Titles
Neither Coppin State nor UMBC volleyball earned trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2024 … so both decided to rectify that in 2025.
The Eagles won the MEAC for the second time in three years, while the Retrievers won the America East for the fifth time in six years.
TaKenya Stafford and Hannah Howard led the way for Coppin State and UMBC, respectively, but don’t forget about MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Coco Figueroa (599 digs), MEAC Rookie of the Year Cherisse Atilano (360 kills, 373 digs), first-team All-America East pick Jalynn Brown (358 kills) and second-team All-America East pick Laura Fuehrer (114 blocks).
