What if I told you the Shohei Ohtani of softball played in Harford County? Patterson Mill’s Madison Knight won Gatorade Maryland Softball Player of the Year for a second consecutive season in 2022 — and for good reason. Knight started all 22 games for the Huskies in the spring, striking out 296 hitters and allowing just 52 hits in 133 innings pitched. She had a 0.32 ERA … and hit .554 with 11 home runs. It’s no wonder Patterson Mill went to the MPSSAA Class 1A title game in 2021 and 2022. Knight is now preparing for her freshman season at Syracuse.
