2024 marks PressBox’s eighth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best High School Male Athlete
We haven’t honored an athlete with this title in back-to-back years before, but we’ll make an exception here. That’s how special quarterback Malik Washington was in his final season at Archbishop Spalding.
The Maryland commit led the Cavaliers to a 12-0 record and a third straight MIAA A Conference title, throwing for 2,095 yards and 24 touchdowns and running for 330 yards and nine scores. He helped Spalding outscore its opponents, 487-44, on the season.
“I think Malik is one of the most impactful players in MIAA history, frankly, and Baltimore football,” Cavaliers head coach Kyle Schmitt told PressBox in October.
