2022 marks PressBox’s sixth annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Single-Game Performance
In June, Austin Hays became the sixth Oriole ever to hit for the cycle … and he only needed a six-inning game to do it! Hays hit an infield single, home run to left and triple to right against Nationals starter Patrick Corbin, then completed the cycle in the sixth inning with a double to left-center against reliever Steve Cishek as the rain came down. The Orioles won, 7-0, in a six-inning game. The cycle highlighted a productive first half for Hays.
