Morgan State redshirt junior running back J.J. Davis recently chatted with PressBox about trading places with a TV character, his favorite sports star growing up and more. The 5-foot-9, 172-pound running back has posted 174 rushing yards and 69 receiving yards entering the Bears’ game against NC Central on Oct. 19.
PressBox: What is a bucket-list place you’ve never been?
J.J. Davis: Bora Bora, for sure.
PB: If you could trade places with any movie or TV character, who would it be?
JD: Probably Boobie Miles in “Friday Night Lights” before he got hurt.
PB: What is your favorite movie of all time?
JD: “The Great Gatsby”
PB: What is your favorite “guilty” food?
JD: Probably funnel cake fries, actually. It’s not something I eat super often, but when I do, I love them. Can’t stop eating them.
PB: What is your favorite pregame meal or snack?
JD: Meal is definitely Chick-fil-A. Snack … cinnamon graham crackers would be simple.
PB: You’re from Cincinnati. Do you like Cincinnati chili?
JD: I believe it’s the best. Gold Star Chili is definitely my favorite.
PB: Who was your favorite sports star when you were a kid?
JD: Russell Westbrook, for sure.
PB: Who is your favorite musician?
JD: Rod Wave
PB: Do you have a go-to karaoke song?
JD: “Otis” by Jay-Z and Kanye West
PB: Is there an exercise you hate doing?
JD: Side planks, and it’s funny because we do them every day in the weight room. I hate them.
