2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Book
Not specifically about Baltimore sports, former Baltimore Sun sportswriter John Eisenberg’s latest book “Rocket Men” was released in September.
The book tells the story of the history of black quarterbacks in pro football, detailing the mistreatment and pain experienced by so many throughout the history of the game.
It covers a number of former Ravens (including Randall Cunningham, Kordell Stewart and Jeff Blake, among others) and builds to a chapter about Lamar Jackson, whose treatment before the NFL Draft did not represent the significant progress some would like to believe has occurred at the position.
