2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Erick Hunter
Morgan State football had the top defense in the MEAC in 2023, allowing 308.5 yards and 21.4 points per game.
The unit was led by junior linebacker Erick Hunter, who had 75 tackles (9.5 for loss), three sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. He was named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in the FCS.
Hunter was one of four Bears defensive players to earn first-team All-MEAC honors along with Jae’Veyon Morton, Jordan Toles and Elijah Williams.
