2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Comeback
In early November, Stevenson basketball coach Gary Stewart broke the school’s all-time wins record in a victory against Elizabethtown.
But Stewart himself acknowledged that wasn’t what was important about the game, as the same game marked guard Ronald Ayers‘ return from a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis that had sidelined him for the entire 2022-23 campaign.
Ayers scored 20 points in his first game back to help his head coach clinch the school record.
