2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Fall Events
The Maryland Cycling Classic and Maryland 5 Star both faced challenges in launching earlier this decade because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But in their second and third years, respectively, they have truly hit their stride.
September’s Cycling Classic (won by Mattias Skjelmose) had an announced 80,000 spectators on the route and a livestream with nearly 800,000 viewers. Meanwhile October’s 5 Star, won by Austin O’Connor and Colorado Blue, continued to grow in Cecil County.
The two events have truly become tentpole events on Maryland’s sporting calendar.
