2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Farewell
While he hadn’t played since 2022, a belief remained that Towson Catholic alum Carmelo Anthony might attempt to continue his NBA career.
But in May, Anthony officially put a bow on his 19-year career, which included 10 All-Star appearances, six All-NBA selections, three Olympic gold medals and an NCAA championship at Syracuse.
He retired as the ninth all-time leading scorer in NBA history and will be an obvious first-ballot Naismith Hall of Fame selection in 2026.
