2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best High School Female Athlete
The numbers were truly eye-popping for Emma Penczek during her sophomore season with Manchester Valley girls’ lacrosse in 2023.
The midfielder scored 94 goals, dished out 43 assists, won 129 draws and caused 37 turnovers. Penczek also scored nine goals in the Mavericks’ 15-7 win against Middletown in the Class 2A championship game to cap off a 19-0 season for Manchester Valley.
She committed to Clemson in September.
