2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Send-Off
Tributes poured in for Brooks Robinson after the Orioles icon passed away in late September. And in early October, the team and Robinson’s family worked together for a wonderfully fitting public memorial service at Camden Yards.
Touching tributes from Robinson’s family were weaved in along with memories from teammates. Cal Ripken Jr., who grew up idolizing Robinson before befriending him as an adult, became choked up while speaking about his impact.
And one of the most beautiful parts of the day was seeing a number of current Orioles players (including star pitchers Kyle Bradish and Grayson Rodriguez) take the time to pay their own respects to “Mr. Oriole” himself.
