2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.

2023 will go down as the year Randallstown native Angel Reese (St. Frances) went from “good basketball player” to “global superstar.”
Reese was spectacular for LSU during its run to an NCAA Tournament title, recording a double-double in all six games, including 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the national-title-clinching victory against Caitlin Clark and Iowa. Reese, a legendary trash talker, put her personality on full display during the title game, jawing at the Hawkeyes’ superstar and creating a rivalry some compared to Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
Reese parlayed her newfound fame into many opportunities, including an appearance in the SI Swimsuit Issue. A Randallstown basketball court was named after her in July, and LSU scheduled a homecoming game at Coppin State for December.
