2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.

It’s safe to say Gilman School’s Bennett Espenshade had a pretty good year.
In the spring, he took home MIAA Athlete of the Year honors in golf. In July, he made the cut at the US Junior Amateur at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C., with a 70-73.
Then in October, he won the 2023 Middle Atlantic Amateur Championship at River Bend Club in Great Falls, Va., with a 67-66-73.
Now a senior at Gilman, Espenshade has committed to Rutgers. We’re pretty sure he’ll be making noise on the Big Ten circuit soon enough.
