2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Debut(s)
In June, Timonium native Spencer Horwitz became just the third St. Paul’s player (LaMonte Wade, Steve Johnson) to ever reach MLB.
But before the Blue Jays first baseman made that debut, he had already made a fairly significant debut in 2023, playing for Team Israel in March’s World Baseball Classic, where he was teammates with Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer.
Annapolis native Andre Lipcius also made his MLB debut with the Tigers in September.
