2023 marks PressBox’s seventh annual Best Of edition celebrating the top people, performances and moments of the year.
Best Inevitability
In Mike Seney’s first three seasons as the head coach of CCBC Essex women’s basketball, the Knights combined to go 101-4 with three NJCAA Region 20 Division II titles and broke through in March with the first NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship in program history.
The Knights defeated Richard Bland College, 95-85, in the national title game with Faith Blackstone, Tyler Gray and Anasia Staton combining for 74 points.
Essex finished the season 36-1 … while averaging 92.2 points per game.
