Best New Team
Given the number of former Maryland lacrosse players on the roster, some fans had jokingly referred to them as the Maryland Whipsnakes during the PLL’s first five seasons anyway.
But in November, the league made it official, christening the state’s newest pro sports team. Despite the abundance of former Terrapins, the team is expected to (ironically) continue hosting its home weekends at Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Field.
And league co-founder Paul Rabil hopes the league will shift from the touring model to a more permanent home-and-away schedule by 2028, when lacrosse officially returns to the Olympics.
