Notes:
• What Lamar Jackson has done to start the season is unworldly. He’s my No. 1 quarterback moving forward until someone proves they can slow him down.
• Not far behind Jackson is Eagles QB Jalen Hurts. The Philly offense has been explosive, and Hurts is making a strong case to be the signal caller for years to come.
• I noted last week that Justin Herbert’s rib injury could be a factor and it showed. He was seen wincing in pain several times against the Jaguars and did not play up to his usual standards. If he plays, you start him and hope the injury doesn’t get worse.
• Speaking of a rib injury, those who used an early pick on Alvin Kamara must be concerned. He only has 100 yards rushing and 19 receiving after three weeks.
• Injuries have taken a toll on running backs in the NFC North and their handcuffs are my top waiver targets this week. Jamaal Williams, Khalil Herbert and Alexander Mattison all need to be rostered and considered as FLEX plays.
• DeVonta Smith was held without a catch in Week 1 as newcomer A.J. Brown stole the show. In the two games since, Smith has 15 catches on 19 targets for 249 yards and a score. He’s a must-start player for me.
• Many joked when the Jaguars gave Christian Kirk his mega-contract. He’s earned every penny of it thus far. He needs to be in lineups each week.
• Mack Hollins was a surprise fantasy star this week with Hunter Renfrow missing the game, but please, do not use a waiver claim on him. Too often I see fantasy owners drop someone who is roster worthy for a one-week wonder who won’t post numbers remotely close to that again this season.
• Kyle Pitts owners can rest a little easier this week, as the Falcons finally got him involved in the offense. Now, they need to get him in the end zone.
• Remember to check the weather heading into Sunday for your kicker selection.
• Speaking of kickers, don’t be the guy who wastes an IR spot on a kicker. I still can’t believe I saw that in one league this weekend.
• Reminder that Vikings vs. Saints is being played in London and will kick off at 9:30 a.m. EST.
